AIKI PEACEMAKING GROUP

  • About the Group

The Aiki Peacemaking Group examines conflict resolution at the macro and micro level. Topics of focus include interpersonal management of conflict, and the actual building of peace on a structural, international level.

  • Robert KENT, Group Moderator

Robert Kent is the founder and director of the award-winning PeaceCamp Initiative, which cultivates youth leadership in the Middle East. Each winter, Robert teaches “Political Aikido” at Williams College. He has served as president of Aiki Extensions since 2009.

  • Invitation

O Sensei’s vision was for aikido to become a tool for self-mastery and the resolution of conflict around the world. The Aiki Peacemaking Group explores the many facets of this vision and pursues ways to implement it through programs and events.

Aiki Groups provide participants with a way to engage more meaningfully with their colleagues around a particular topic. Each Aiki Group is coordinated by a Moderator, and will set its own agenda based on the desire of its participants: one group might discuss best practices, while another might sponsor an event or even start a new program. AE will provide ongoing support through the AE Website and other means.

Currently, there are four (soon to be five) Aiki Groups. Visit one of the pages below for more information. If you are interested in Moderating a new group, please Contact Us

  • The Aiki Peacemaking Group discussion forum is a place for group members to share ideas, ask questions, and connect with other members. If you would like to join the Group, please click Join Group above.

  • The Aiki Education Group explores the application of aiki principles in all disciplines and at all levels of the education field. Areas of focus include pedagogy, curriculum, student support, and educational administration.

  • The Aiki Business Group brings aikido principles and embodiment practices into the business world by establishing a network of experienced, successful practitioners to advise and enable others interested in this work.

  • The Aiki Veterans Group is dedicated to expanding opportunities for veterans to participate in aikido programs, with emphasis on the role that aikido plays as an adjunct therapy for the treatment of combat-related PTSD.
